Shirt Care Guide

Shirt Care Guide

Thoughtful care keeps your shirts looking sharp for longer. Select your fabric below for simple guidance on washing, drying and ironing.

Pure Irish Linen Shirts

Naturally breathable and beautifully lightweight, Pure Irish Linen is designed for effortless elegance. With the right care, it softens over time while keeping its refined character.

Washing
  • Machine wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle.
  • Wash with similar colours only.
  • Use a mild detergent to protect the natural fibres.
  • Avoid bleach and strong stain removers.
  • Do not overload the machine, as linen benefits from space to move freely.
Drying
  • Do not tumble dry unless the care label specifically allows it.
  • For best results, hang on a hanger straight after washing and allow to air dry naturally.
  • Smooth the fabric gently by hand while damp to reduce creasing.
  • Keep away from direct high heat or prolonged strong sunlight when drying.
Ironing
  • Iron while the shirt is still slightly damp for the best finish.
  • Use a hot steam iron on a linen setting, typically up to 200°C.
  • Iron on the reverse side if preferred to preserve the surface finish.
  • A naturally relaxed look is part of linen’s charm, so a perfectly crisp finish is not always necessary.

Pure Cotton Shirts

Pure cotton offers everyday comfort with a crisp, polished finish. A gentle wash and careful drying routine will help preserve both shape and colour.

Washing
  • Machine wash at 30°C to 40°C on a normal cycle.
  • Wash with similar colours.
  • Remove collar stiffeners before washing, if included.
  • Unbutton the shirt before washing to reduce strain on the stitching.
  • Use a mild detergent and avoid bleach unless the care label states otherwise.
Drying
  • Do not tumble dry where possible, as high heat may cause shrinkage and increase creasing.
  • For best results, hang on a hanger immediately after washing and allow to air dry naturally.
  • Shape the collar, placket and cuffs while damp.
  • If using a tumble dryer, use low heat only and remove promptly.
Ironing
  • Iron while slightly damp, or use steam for easier pressing.
  • Use a medium to hot setting, typically 150°C to 200°C.
  • Start with the collar and cuffs, then move to sleeves and body.
  • A steam iron will help achieve a sharper, cleaner finish.
